EXCLUSIVE BREAKFAST TOUR OF ‘MY GODDESSES AND MY MONSTERS: A DIALOGUE WITH MARIA MARTINS’ AT LGDR LONDON WITH INTERNATIONAL SENIOR DIRECTOR SHARIS ALEXANDRIAN
Join us for an exclusive breakfast tour of ‘My Goddesses and my Monsters: a dialogue with Maria Martins’ at LGDR London with International Senior Director Sharis Alexandrian.
This exhibition brings together a striking selection of works from both leading Surrealists, and Latin American surrealists, with the pivotal work for this presentation being a unique Maria Martins sculpture, Comme Une Liane, from 1946. Martins is a Brazilian artist who received little attention during her lifetime, however, worked closely with Marcel Duchamp, Jacques Lipchitz and many more central figures from the surrealist movement.
This selection provokes a historical dialogue between the connections and entanglements of the surrealist movement and its central figures in Paris during the 1920s, with that of contemporary Brazilian artists working today who take inspiration from Maria Martins, the bridge between these two seemingly distant approaches that ultimately have much in common.
